    3. After putting this family aside for a couple years due to a frustrating lack of clues, I am back to trying to get it in order. Persis was the daughter of Hezekiah STOWELL and Hepzibah Persis RICE of Petersham, Worcester, MA then Guilford, VT who ended up in Jericho/Bainbridge, NY about 1785. He was one of the Vermont Sufferers given land in NYS. Persis STOWELL married John CRAWFORD in the Guilford, VT vicinity or in Bainbridge, Chenango Co. NY. John may have died about 1820, but this is a guess only and it is possible he simply had left the area. Persis died 1839 likely in Chenango Co., NY. She and other STOWELLs are buried in the East Side Cemetery in Afton, Chenango Co., NY. The had a large family of children enumerated in the 1810 and 1820 census for Jericho/Bainbridge, NY. The most likely children are Levi, Jane, possibly Andrew, Joseph, Persis, Abigail, Rebecca, John and Betsey. I have 1 female and 2 males without any name. Abigail and John died as young adults in 1828. Jane was married to Charles Lee Grinnell and died in Wellsboro, Tioga, PA. Persis married William PIKE (my direct line) of Colesville, Broome Co., NY. Betsey married Amos WILMOT and they removed to Sparta, Knox Co., IL. Rebecca d. 1864 likely lived in the same location, but I have no clue as to her husband's name. A number of these interrelated families worked in the lumbering industry in Southern, NYS and northern PA near the Susquehanna River and may have shipped lumber to Baltimore, MD and elsewhere. Would appreciate added details and happy to correspond with people interested in these families. Margaret Scheffler
