Stowell is on the SSDI with a birth date of Oct. 24, 1921. His last residence is given as Jonesboro, Arkansas. He died Oct. 22, 1999. If you send for his SS5 application form it should give you his birthplace & parents names, including mother`s maiden name if he knew it. Go here: http://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi Search for Carleton Stowell. You can then generate a letter (from the page with his data) to the SS Admin. requesting the SS5 form.
