He was born in Gouverneur, March 4, 1928, the son of Charles and Ella Jane (Thompson) Stowell. He married the former Janina Tuderek August 2, 1946 in Frankfurt, Germany. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1948, and then resided in Star Lake where he was employed by Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp. for 30 years. In 1978, Mr. Stowell and his wife then moved to Keeseville and he was employed by CVPH Medical Center for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar, and was happiest when surrounded by his family. Wallace is survived by his wife, Janina Stowell of Keeseville; three daughters and two son-in-laws, Lena and Victor Pomerville of Keeseville, Rosemary DeCirce of Keeseville, and Barbara and Barry Deal of Oklahoma; two brothers, Charles Stowell of Gouverneur, and Melvin Stowell and his wife, Ruth of Star Lake; a sister, Lena Storie of Ohio; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation hours will be held Monday, March 12, 2001, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Good Shepard Church of the Nazarene in Keeseville with Pastor David Drake officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Port Douglas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
