"genetic genealogy" :) It does have the advantage of possibly saving ya both a lot of time and expenses in the long run :) When comparing the 12-marker test results from the "correctly corresponding" male participant on both of your family lines that you think might have a common "direct male line" ancestor ... this will be the litmus test, IF there is any remote chance of a connection :) The Y-DNA is pass from father to son, generation after generation, with "maybe" a slight mutations every once in a while ...
