Either Elijah or a son Joseph Cheney Stowell was one of the founders of Hamilton. College. The 11th child of Elijah and Deborah was Hannah b., Lebanon, NY 26 Aug 1823, d. 24 Nov 1889, m. Henry Buys on 13 Oct 1744. No parents given for Henry. Six children are listed: George, Anna, Ida May b. 1859, Ellen, Charles, and Harriet.
