    1. Stowell Heirloom Isle of Man
    2. To whom it may concern I have in my possession a silver teapot which belonged to a William Stowell born c1807 Braddan, Isle of Man. It has been said that this teapot forms part of a set which was distributed in a will. I'm very interested to hear from anyone who may have part of this tea set or know of it's history. William's father is understood to be a Kermode Stowell, and in turn Kermode's father was a William Stowell who married Elizabeth Gawne (Gawn). I can be contacted at [email protected] Mark Stevens

Apparently the internet has the Stowell book details which you found. Not a clear track to any present descendants that I can see. Child Robert Albert married Elizabeth Somers and had child James Somers Stowell? in 1900, no other information given; Elizabeth Alice maried Cyrus Dodge and a child, Harrison dodge Stowell in 1890, listed a being instructor in Los Angeles military academy, no other information listed. Maybe someone on the list will recognize this line.

    1. Jasper Stowell
    2. Looking for info on Jasper Stowell b. abt. 1803 in NH (according to 1860 census). 1860 census (Woodford Co., IL) gives his age as 52; tombstone says he was b. 1803. He married Polly Meyers; b. abt. 1800-1805 in NY(acc. to census). Son Charles Newton Stowell b. 1839 in NY. Charles' death cert. says Jasper b. in NY. Other children were Luther b. 1840 in NY; Polly A. b. 1842 in NY. To add to the confusion, There is a tombstone in the Stowell plot (Evergreen Cem., ElPaso, Woodford Co., IL) that says "Nancy Stowell, Sister, 1837-1872." In 1860 census, there is a Nancy E. Myers living with the family. She was b. NY abt. 1934. Also listed is Helen Myers,8,b. OH; Frank B. Myers, 6, b. OH; & William G. Myers, 4, b. OH. I think Nancy Myers is the dau. of Jasper & Polly, but why would she be buried as Stowell? I would like to know the parents of Jasper Stowell & maybe get a birth date & marriage date for him. Any help appreciated, Kris in IL

The only information I have found in the internet is that he was born Sept 27, 1831 in Dundee,Brant, Ontario, Canada to Jeremiah Stowell and Isabella Colquhoun and married Elizabeth Bateman. He died May 7, 1883 in Rome, Oneida, New York. I also found that they had six children: Elizabeth Anne, Robert Albert, Sarah Isabella, Jeremiah James, and Lillian Stowell. I found that Robert had a son James Somers Stowell. I also found that Rev. James Stowell and Elizabeth Bateman Stowell were buried in Hillside Cemtery, Augusta, New York. I was wondering there were any descendents still alive.

The gentleman who posted originally doesn't have enough information to determine much within the parameters of the Stowell book's capabilities. I looked thru most of the James Stowell's of that period and did not find any that fit the information he provided, which was a brief entry in an old church listing of former pastors in that New York town on when her served there. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QAQBAEB/515.1.1.2 Message Board Post: I have no idea who started this thread. But in case I have the right person, here are a few suggestions to make it more likely you will get better results. There are many people willing to help. Please, when one posts to message boards about lookups that go to the mailing lists, tell the readers everything in EACH MESSAGE that is needed for the lookup, i.e. full name, spouses's name, dates and locations as best you know them. One or two phrase replies to previous messages are meaningless to the people on the mailing lists who are likely the ones who may have the information to help. The Stowell book is large and it takes too much time to look for requests that are not specific. As someone else mentioned, if one knows it, giving the wife's name often makes for a much easier lookup, rather than some common Stowell name that could have 20 or 30 entries. Eveything one can provide that makes a lookup quicker and easier will likely bring the poster a better result. There are lots of people ready to help, but we need information that narrows down the request. To expect someone to go back and read a thread of several messages is not going to result in people wanting to try to find the answer for the person asking.

That is another means of cross-referencing in the Stowell book's index. They don't have Stowell's organized by area, time period ( to any precision), just the genealogical descendant numbered generations.
