The following obituary appeared in the September 4, 2001, edition of the Seymour (Indiana) Tribune: Bettie L. Bevers Dec. 11, 1936 -- Sept. 2, 2001 Bettie L. Bevers, 64, of Freetown, died at 10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001 at the Bloomington Hospital, Bloomington. She had been in failing health for 10 years. She was a housewife and a member of the Freetown United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Ladies Aid and the United Methodist Women's organization. She was a member of the Freetown Home Economics Club. She was a lifelong Jackson County resident. Born Dec. 11, 1936, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Otis Lee and Estella Sylva Voyles Stout. On Oct 26, 1957, in Jackson County, she married Morris Wayne Bevers and he survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Debra Lynn) Flynn Jr., Brownstown; two sons, Steven Wayne Bevers and Charles "Chuck" Bevers, both of Freetown; three brothers, Lee Edward Stout, Brownstown and Morris "Jr." Stout and Kenneth Stout, both of Freetown and four sisters, Naomi McKain, Opal Jewell, Lizzie Maples and Kate Stuckswisch, all of Brownstown. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Stout. The Rev. Duane Loos will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at after 10 a.m. until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Freetown United Methodist Church or to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
