The following obituary appeared in the September 12, 2001, edition of the Knoxville (Tennessee) News-Sentinal: ACUFF, DESSIE STOUT - age 73, of Blaine, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was a member of God's Little Mission Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Glen Acuff; sisters, Polly Griffin and Lucy Spickard; brothers, Oscar, Clarence, and Rowdy Acuff. Survived by brother, Charles Stout of Maynardville; sisters, Barbara Chesney of Blaine, Wanda Chandler and Mary Stout of Mascot, very dear friend, Frances Hayes of Mascot; grandchildren: Shelia McQuithy, Sharon Stooksbury Stacy Lane, and Susie Littleton; 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 3 p.m. Thursday, Mynatt's Chapel, Rev. Arville Cardwell, Rev. Ray Chandler, and Rev. Roy Hammock officiating. Interment in Clear Springs Cemetery in Mascot. Pallbearers: Chucky Stout, Sherman Acuff, Barry McQuithy, Vince Stooksbury, Stacy Lane, and Allen Graves. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mynatt's.
