The following obituary appeared September 28, 2000, in the Delaware County paper in Pennsylvania: Florence "Judy" Stout Walton, 85, of Bel Air, Md., an active participant in Delaware County theater and history, died Aug. 18 at home. Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Walton lived in Rose Valley and Wallingford before moving to Bel Air, Md., 22 years ago. She was a graduate of Lansdowne High School and was active for years in organizing class reunions. Mrs. Walton was active in the Little Theatre movement in Philadelphia and later acted in plays at Barnstormers in Ridley Park. She also participated in the Rose Valley Folk Variety Shows. A life member of the Rose Valley Folk, Mrs. Walton was instrumental in organizing the Rose Valley Exhibit in 1973, celebrating the borough's 50th anniversary. She co-authored the book "A History of Rose Valley." Mrs. Walton's special interest was the art and artisans of Rose Valley and she was sought out by scholars and students of the Arts and Crafts movement for her knowledge of the Rose Valley Shops and the early history of the borough. She loaned items to exhibits at the Community Arts Center in Wallingford, the Brandywine River Museum and at the Old Mill in Rose Valley. Mrs. Walton was a longtime volunteer at the Helen Kate Furness Library in Wallingford and served on the Library Board. She was the widow of the late John Walton, who died in 1978, and the daughter of the late George Irwin and Florence Garber Stout. Survivors: Daughter, Deborah Walton Harrison of Bel Air, Md.; son, Stephen John Walton of Colwyn; sister, Ann Wills of Wallingford; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
