The following obituary appeared in the January 17, 2001, edition of the Shreveport (Louisiana) Times: John Raymond Stout, Sr. El Paso, TX. -- John Raymond Stout, Sr. , age 81, passed away in the William Beaumont Army Medical Center, El Paso, Texas, on Wednesday, January 10, 2001, after a long battle with Acute Myeloginous Leukemia. He was a graduate of Bolton High School in Alexandria and attended Louisiana College in Pineville prior to joining the Army Air Corps in 1942. During World War II he was stationed in England with the 8th Air Force and flew 30 combat missions as a crew member on a B-17 bomber. In 1947 he served in Germany during the Berlin Blockade crisis. He was stationed in Japan providing radio support services to united in Korea during the Korean War. From 1959-1961, Mr. Stout served as Military Advisor to the Nationalist Chinese Air Force in Taiwan. He also provided airborne electronics support in Vietnam in 1966-1967. After retiring from military service in 1971, he worked for 17 years in the training department at the Northwest Development Center in Bossier City. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gertrude A. Stout; two sons, John R. Jr. and wife, Sharon, of San Andreas, CA; Mark and wife, Ruth of Portland, OR; four daughters, Frances Phillips and husband, Dana of Sacramento, CA; Carol Bonelli of Las Cruces, NM; Ruth Annette Kassis and husband, Rich of Sacramento, CA; Laura Giglio and husband, Mike of El Paso, TX; seven grandchildren, Brian Wright, Chrisopher Bonelli, Matthew Bonelli, Michael Kassis, Meredith Giglio, Celeste Giglio, and Story Giglio. Services will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 601 Hwy 80 East Haughton, LA at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2001. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2001. Interment will be in Hill Crest Cemetary in Haughton, LA.
