The following obituary appeared in the May 2, 2001, edition of the Knoxville (Tennessee) News-Sentinel: STOOKSBURY, CLEO STOUT - age 93, of Andersonville, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 29, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Member of Community Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband of 69 years, Ruben Patrick Stooksbury; son, James Stooksbury; daughter, Earcel Mynatt; son, Verlin (Jake) Stooksbury; grandson Verlin (Bennie) Henegar, and great-great grandson, Baby Henegar. Survived by son, Delbert Stooksbury of Andersonville; daughter, Letha Henegar of Cleveland, Tenn.; daughter and son-in-law, Trula and Harold (Chigger) Oaks of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Mary Stooksbury of Jacksonville, Fla.; brothers, Robert Stout and Elmer (Weedy) Stout and sister, Aileen Stooksbury, all of Knoxville; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren. She had many talents such as carving dolls from pine knots, quilting and crocheting. She taught many women in the Central Peninsula how to make mattresses and quilts. She worked on the farm like the men to raise produce to sell, and always took her little children to church. She was an excellent cook who gardened and canned until she was in her eighties. She also built furniture and made her own clothes. She was an avid reader, checking out books from the Bookmobile until her eyesight began failing. Family and friends will meet at Mynatt Funeral Home, 12 Noon Wednesday and proceed to New Loyston Cemetery for graveside service at 1 p.m. Rev. Vaughn Richardson officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. Family and friends may call at their convenience at Mynatt's.
