The following obituary appeared in the May 13, 2001, edition of the Asheville (North Carolina) Citizen-Times: ELLWOOD LEWIS STOUT NORWALK, CALIF. ­ Retired Chief Petty Officer Elwood Lewis at a local hospital. He was born November 13, 1954 in Asheville to the late Calvin A. Stout Sr. and Vera Pringle Stout. He was a 1973 graduate of Asheville High School. He was retired from the U.S. Navy having served 26 years. He is survived by his wife, LaDonna Rickens Stout; sons Kenya and Rashid Stout of Norwalk, Calif. and Raymond Stout of Norfolk, Va.; a brother, Calvin A. Stout Jr. of Asheville; sisters Portia Staton of Greensboro and Emma Wise of Asheville; two granddaughters, and a host of other family members and friends. Services will be held Friday in Norwalk, Calif. Memorial services for Asheville will be announced at a later date. The family is receiving friends at the home of Calvin A. Stout, Jr., 53 Austin Avenue.
