The following obituary appeared in the April 10, 2001, edition of the Fremont (Nebraska) Tribune: Ralph Stout The memorial graveside service for Ralph "Lou" Stout, 78, of Fremont will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. He died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Arbor Manor in Fremont. He was born Feb. 27, 1923, in Fremont. He attended Fremont schools and graduated from Fremont Senior High School in 1941. He then attended Midland Lutheran College before entering the U.S. Marines during World War II. After serving in the Pacific Theater of the war, he returned to Fremont and went to work for Hormel Foods Corp., where he was employed for 36 years, retiring in 1984. He married Gerda Broeckemeir in 1949 in Fremont. She died in 1996. He was a member of the Fremont Family YMCA, Fremont Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie 200, American Legion Post 20 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854. Survivors include: a son, Shawn (and wife, Julie) Stout of LaMesa, Calif.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a daughter. There is no visitation. A memorial has been established to American Legion Post 20. Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
