The following obituary appeared in the April 5, 2001, edition of the Seymour (Indiana) Tribune: Joseph M. Stout Sept. 3, 1915-April 4,2001 Joseph M. Stout, 85, of Columbus, died at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He had worked at the Harry Stearns Lumber Company near Seymour and was a mechanic at Southern Transportation. He was a 50-year member of the Six Mile Lodge 412 in Hayden. He was a former member of the Teamster Union. Born Sept. 3, 1915, in North Vernon, he was the son of Joseph R. and Sadie E. Wilson Stout. On Feb. 26, 1939, in Brownstown, he married Helen V. Trueblood and she survives. Other survivors include a son, James J. Stout of Indianapolis; a daughter, Judith Stout Hannula of Decatur, Ill.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Fred Stout of Seymour and Lynn Stout of Wyanet, Ill. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Beeman. The Rev. Jeff Peterson will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Myers Funeral Service, Hathaway-Myers Chapel, Columbus. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
