The following obituary appeared in the March 27, 2001, edition of the Daily Oklahoman: A memorial service will be held for Maxine HOPPIS STOUT, 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at the Southwest Church of Christ, 2600 S. Agnew, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Maxine passed from this earthly existence to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 24, 2001. Maxine was born January 30, 1926 near Gans, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Fred E. and Velma FIVEASH HOPPIS. She moved to California in 1937 following the path of many others who migrated to the Golden State during that time. She lived most of her adult life in San Diego, California and moved to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Anderson, California following her husband's retirement. Maxine attended San Diego High School and graduated with the class of 1945. On June 29, 1947, she married Robert Woodward STOUT, in San Diego. Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Robert; two brothers, Clifford and Delmas; two sisters, Wanda GRIST and Sybil Bird WILSON. Maxine is survived by her son, Allen STOUT and his wife, Ellen of Oklahoma City; and her daughter Linda MORTON and her husband, David of Edmond; her sister, Francis ROMAN and husband, Jerry of Novato, California; her brother, Bill HOPPIS and wife, Helen of Portland, OR; four grandchildren, Michael MORTON, Robert MORTON, Sheila STOUT and Steven STOUT, and one great-grandchild, Halle STOUT all of Oklahoma City.
