    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Stout Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/QKQBAIB/2104 Message Board Post: I am researching information about Joseph Stout who served as a private in the Revolutionary war. I have conflicting accounts as to what unit he served in. Here is what I have: Joseph Stout B: 1747, Amwell, Hunterdon, Co., NJ D: 1781 (possibly KIA - location unknown) Wife: Elizabeth Stout (1756 - ?) Married: 7 Jan 1775 1) Listed as private in county of North Hampton, Flying Camp under command on Capt. Arndt. A Josph Stout is Listed as KIA in the Battle of New York. See: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/pa/northampton/history/local/davis/davis05.txt This is a long article but if you search for Joseph he is listed as "KIA or missing in action" on Aug. 27, 1776. If this is the case this might be a different Joseph since mine died in 1781. 2) Contacted the Daughters of the American Revolution, they state that Joseph Stout belonged to Captain Henry Phillips' company, First Regiment, Hunterdon, according to DAR # 775455 3) While researching the 1st Regiment a third monkey wrench was thrown into the equation. According to the Son's of the American Revolution (SOAR) Joseph Stout is listed under two units: Henry Phillips' company, First Regiment, Hunterdon, NJ Captain Nixon's Troop, Light-Horse, Middlesex, NJ see Official Register of the Officers and men of NJ Page 772 http://www.njstatelib.org/NJ_Information/Searchable_Publications/reg/NJREGn772.htmll I am certain the DAR information is probably correct; however questions remain: 1) Is it possible that Joseph served in the 1st Regiment & the Light Horse units as the SOAR suggest? Or our these different Joseph's? 2) Who is the Joseph killed (taken prissioner) at the Battle of New York under Ardnt's command? 3) Does anyone have information on any of the three units listed above? I anyone can help me on this I would appreciate it. Sincerely; Rob Stout
