The following obituary appeared in the November 10, 2001, edition of the Salt Lake (Utah) Tribune: Carlyle F. Stout, M.D. Saturday, November 10, 2001 ST. GEORGE, UT- Carlyle F. Stout, M.D., renown Cardiologist, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at his home of heart failure Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001. He was 83. Carlyle was born in Safford, AZ. on July 21, 1918 to Wendell Snow Stout and Estella Jensen Stout. He grad-uated with a BA from the University of Utah in 1944 and graduated from the University of Utah Medical School in 1946. Carlyle married Francis Margaret Willie, M.D., on Feb. 12, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had two children: Carlyle F. Stout III and Margaret Stout (deceased). Francis passed away on June 18, 1958. In 1959 he married Suzanne Smith in Pasadena, CA. They had two children: Richard Smith Stout and James Jensen Stout. In 1969, Carlyle and Sue moved from Pasadena, CA. to St. George. Carlyle was on staff and a committee chairman at Dixie Regional Medical Center. Carlyle was the first cardiologist in St. George and helped build the Coronary Care Unit. He was a caring physician to his patients and treated all who needed his expertise. He also served as Chief of Staff at Dixie Regional Medical Center. Carlyle was affiliated with the Huntington Memorial Hospital, Pasadena, CA, 1955-present and Dixie Regional Medical Center, St. George, UT, 1969 - present. He is survived by his wife, Sue; his three sons - Carlyle, Rick and James; eight grandchildren, three stepchildren, eight step grandchildren; his brother, Wendell Stout. He was predeceased by his sister, Jean Stout. At Carlyle's request no funeral services will be held.
