Over the past weeks I have been seeking information on the Penelope Stout commemorative coin. I received a response from Ferris Olin Ph.D., Rutgers University. He had knowledge of the coin but his only advice was the recommendation that I contact Historical Societies near the areas where Penelope lived. He did make one statement that caught me off guard. He said Penelope had a son, John Hart, who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. As with most information, an element of truth may exist. Researching John Hart, I found he was born btw 1708-1713. A side note, Penelope would have been nearing her 90th birthday. John Hart & his wife Rebecca Scudder had many children, among them Edward Hart, b. 1755. Edward married Nancy Ann Stout in 1777. I have no records of Nancy but my data is limited. Hopefully this information will help someone. Will continue attempting to find background and possible sources for the commemorative coin. Phil Cook
