The following obituary appeared in the November 8, 2001, edition of the Alva (Oklahoma) Review-Courier: Opal Ellen Stout Jackson, 86, Cherokee Opal Ellen Stout Jackson was born Nov. 19, 1914 in Douglas to Harvey and Alma Scott Stout. She died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001 at the Cherokee Manor in Cherokee where she had resided for the last year. A Service of Thanksgiving for the Grace of God as shown in her life will be held at 2 p.m.Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Goodwin Funeral Home Chapel in Cherokee. The Reverend David B. Imming will preside. She is survived by her husband, Robert Jackson, of the home; three children: Hollis Dale Stout and his wife Joan, Albuquerque, N.M.; Shirley Ann Staiger, Amarillo, Texas; Floyd Harvey Stout and his wife Patricia; a sister, Thelma Graham of Wichita, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Maxine Stout of Enid; six grandchildren: Doug Stout, Albuquerque, N.M.; Sandra Poirier and her husband, Steve, Albuquerque, N.M.; Dennis Staiger and his wife, Jan, of Terrell, Texas; David Staiger and wife Sun Soo of Corpus Christi, Texas; Melanie Arndt and her husband Mark of Alva; and Gregg Stout and his wife Lisa of Raleigh, N.C.; four step-grandchildren: Jane Johnson and her husband, Randy, Enid; Bryan Fuxa and his wife Rhonda of Enid; Bradley Fuxa and his wife Kristy of Broken Arrow; and Barry Fuxa and his wife Robin of Stillwater. Other survivors include seven great-grandchildren: Joshua, Aimie and Rebekah Staiger of Terrell, Texas; Joseph, Hannah and Christine Staiger of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Johanna Poirier, Albuquerque, N.M.; 10 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
