The following obituary appeared in the November 21, 1999, edition of the Oakland (California) Tribune: STOUT Wanda Claudine Stout - born September 4, 1910, died peacefully on November 17, 1999. She resided in Lafayette for 30 years and for the past 3 years at Montego Height in Walnut Creek. She was an active member for 45 years at the First Presbyterian Church in Oakland. A native of Oklahoma, she was an entrepreneur, opening a beauty spa during the late 1930's in Enid, the first of its kind in northern Oklahoma. Later, she held a Real Estate License in Oregon and owned Better Business Bookkeeping, serving clients in the Bay Area. She was volunteer and member of Children's Hospital, Palm Branch, and The Children's Home Society. In her senior years, she was a John Roberts Power Model in San Francisco, modeling for I. Magnin and Saks Fifth Avenue. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wyatt in 1977. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Jo Hemphill and son-in-law, Ben Hemphill of Lafayette; sister, Winifred Wedel, two grandchildren, Susan Mitgang of Orinda and Robert Hemphill of Marin County; five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 22, at 1:30 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 2619 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94612. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Oakland.
