    3. The following obituary appeared in the June 24, 2001, edition of the Tiffin (Ohio) Advertiser-Tribune: William D. Stout Basic Inc. retiree William D. Stout, 81, of Briarwood Circle, Fremont, died Friday, June 22, 2001, in the Medical College of Ohio.Mr. Stout was born Feb. 27, 1920, in Clyde to Edward and Minnie (Green) Stout. He married Marian Kohlenberg April 30, 1941, in Mansfield and they had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. In addition to his wife, other survivors include: a son, Ken D. of Fremont; two daughters, Judith Harrah of Green Springs and Joyce Thuernau of Plymouth, Mich.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Glenn of Green Springs; and two sisters, Martha Wood of Flowery Branch, Ga., and Lenna Winegardner of Green Springs. A brother, Walter, preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Okinawa. Badges included the Combat Infantryman Badge and Expert Rifle; decorations and citations included Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal. He was employed by Basic Refractory 39 years, where he was a foreman in the special production department and retired in 1981. He was a member of Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church and Quarter Century of Basic Co.Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, Fremont, with the Rev. Robert J. Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Union Cemetery, Old Fort.Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church, the Sandusky County Humane Society, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
