The following obituary appeared in the July 2, 2001, edition of the Emporia (Kansas)Gazette: Doris L. Stout COTTONWOOD FALLS - The funeral for Doris L. Stout, 84, of Cottonwood Falls will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church at Cottonwood Falls. Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls and until service time at the church. Mrs. Stout will be buried in Bazaar Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the church or the Chase County 4-H Council may be sent to the funeral home. Mrs. Stout died June 29, 2001, at Morris County Hospital in Council Grove. Doris Lee Titus, the daughter of Dr. A.E. and Jessie Lee Titus, was born Oct. 26, 1916, at Cottonwood Falls. She attended Kansas State University, where she was a member of the band. She married Elmore Stout on Sept. 13, 1938, at Cottonwood Falls. Mrs. Stout was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cottonwood Falls, the Presbyterian Women and the Presbyterian Mariners; she taught Bible school. She also was a member of the Bazaar Ladies Bridge Club, Chase County home demonstration unit, the Kansas Livestock Association, the American and Kansas Hereford Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. She was a Bazaar 4-H leader and assisted her husband as secretary of the Chase County Fair, both for many years. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Marcia Bailey of Hamilton; a son, Stanley Stout of Linwood; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A son, Roger Stout; an infant daughter; a sister, Betty Lu Titus; and a brother, Albert Ernst Titus, died earlier.
