The following obituary appeared in the July 2, 2001, edition of the Topeka (Kansas) Capital-Journal: COTTONWOOD FALLS (KS) -- Services will be at 11am Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Cottonwood Falls for Doris L STOUT, 84, Cottonwood Falls, who died Friday, June 29, 2001, at a Council Grove hospital. She was born Oct 26, 1916, in Cottonwood Falls, to Dr A E and Jessie LEE TITUS. She attended Kansas State University in Manhattan (KS) and was a member of the band at the university. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cottonwood Falls, Presbyterian Women and the Mariners group at the church where she taught bible classes. She was a member of the Ladies Bridge Club in Bazaar (KS), Chase County Home Demonstration Unit, Kansas Livestock Association, American and Kansas Hereford Associations, and the American Quarter Horse Association. She was a leader for the Bazaar 4-H Club for several years. She married Elmore STOUT on Sept 13, 1938, in Cottonwood Falls. They shared duties as secretary of the Chase County Fair for many years. He survives. A son, Roger STOUT, preceded her in death. A daughter died in infancy. Other survivors include a son, Stanley STOUT, Linwood (KS); a daughter, Marcia BAILEY, Hamilton (KS); six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Entombment will be in Bazaar Mausoleum in Bazaar south of Cottonwood Falls. Mrs Stout will lie in state from 9am to 8pm today at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls and after 10am Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the Chase County 4-H Council, both in Cottonwood Falls, 66845.
