The following obituary appeared in the June 10, 2001, edition of the Johnson City (Tennessee) Standard: Mable B. Miller, 84, 1228 Thomas Blvd., Elizabethton, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Miller was a Lawrence County, Ky., native and had lived in Detroit, Mich., for 25 years. She had lived in Elizabethton since 1972. Mrs. Miller was a daughter of the late Madison and Ruth Oaks Stout. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Estes "Ed" Miller, on Oct. 1, 1995. She was a former employee of Bemberg Corp., Elizabethton. Mrs. Miller was a former member of the Carter County Home Demonstration Club. Survivors include three sisters, Margaret Reynolds and Shirley Johnson, both of Elizabethton, and Mary Wittenbarger, Lynch, Ky.; one brother, Fred Stout, Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews.
