Just as a note for new members, I collect these Stout obituaries for the group so that there will be an archived record that will be easy to search. This is not an obituaries-only group -- although gaps in activity make it seem that way sometimes. The following obituary appeared in the October 8, 2001, edition of the Salt Lake (Utah) Tribune -- included here as the mother's maiden name was STOUT: Hortense Allen Jackson "Jackie" Monday, October 8, 2001 Hortense Allen Jackson "Jackie" passed away Oct. 6, 2001 peacefully of a cardiac episode. Born Dec. 1, 1911 in Escalante, UT, she was the first child of Philo Allen and Stella Stout Allen. Married Garold E. Jackson on Oct. 28, 1933 in St. George Temple. Longtime resident of Salt Lake City, later retiring to St. George, UT. Survived by her children Geraldine (Ron) Hill, Una Loy Killpack, Gloria (Jerry) Bateman, Trent (Barbara) Jackson, grandchildren, great-grand-children and great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, husband Garold (Nov. 1987) and daughter Carol Dawn Dustson (July 1990). Was loved and will be missed by family and many friends. She loved Temple Work, crafts, Rock Club, travel, dancing and visiting. Friends may call Tues. Oct. 9, 2001 at Spilsbury Mortuary from 6 to 7 p.m., 110 South Bluff in St. George.
