    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Stout Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QKQBAIB/1998 Message Board Post: Elbert E. Stout of Hardinsburg, Indiana in Washington County was killed May 2, 1945, while serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He is buried in the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines. We are seeking information regarding his military and civilian life and especially locate any family members still living so we can send them the free photographs of his grave site and the beautiful memorial in the Philippines. I am a retired Hoosier from Madison County Indiana residing in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. We are seeking family and military information of nearly a thousand servicemen from Indiana killed in the South Pacific during World War II. There are 17,206 Americans buried here and thousands more that are missing or buried at sea and are honored on the “Tablets of the Missing”. Please visit our website to see the beautiful memorial located in Manila, Philippines. http://fizkid.tripod.com/ My wife and I visited the cemetery as visitors and left with a mission in our heart. We have been taking photographs of the graves of the Indiana servicemen buried here and have been uniting them (at no charge) with their family members in Indiana and across the United States. To receive the photo of your family member, neighbor or friend all you need is a working email address. We do not send them to regular mailing addresses due to the costs. Please help us find the families of the men that might still be living. Our project is only successful because of teamwork and your contributions are noted on our website. If you wish to help us we will be pleased to add your name to our ACKNOWLEDGMENT page on the website. The obituaries usually did not appear till to three months after the death date. If you are not a genealogist you can help by just picking up the telephone directory and find someone with the same last name and give them a call. It has worked many times for us. Zenas5@yahoo.com Sincerely, Dave and Apple Dwiggins San Pablo City, Philippines

Surnames: Stout Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/QKQBAIB/1997.1 Message Board Post: Hi Stacey, Have you checked Quaker records? There was a large Quaker Stout family who lived in Clinton Co., Ohio and moved to Indiana and states to the west (I'm not sure about Kentucky). Many of these Stouts dropped out of the Quaker denomination and descendants do not even know that they had been Quakers. If you don't know about these types of records, I will be happy to help you. These church or "meeting" records are a very good source.

Surnames: Stout Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/QKQBAIB/1997 Message Board Post: Hello fellow tree climbers! I am at the proverbial "brick wall" on a gggGrandparent, and am hoping someone will read this and be able to shed some light. I am looking for a HOSEA STOUT (not Morman one born 1810 in KY) and his wife, Matilda Meacham. Hosea Stout: born 22 October 1812 Ohio married: 14 January 1836 Clinton Co. Ohio to: Matilda Meacham Died: 24 May 1875 Macon co. La Plata Missouri Buried: La Plata Cemetery, La Plata Missouri. Matilda Meacham born: 27 Novemeber 1819 Virgnia died: 29 January 1891 La Plata, Missouri buried: La Plata Cemetery, La Plata Missouri CHILDREN: Martha born abt. 1839 buried next to parents George born abt. 1842 Adeline born abt. 1842 Thomas born abt. 1846 Alba Born: ? 1845? Hamar born abt. 1847 Hannah born abt.1853 Emma born abt. 1854 Joshua (J.J) abt. 1856 buried with wife/parents in La Plata Robert Lee Born 1860 I have searched birth records, marriage records (Only "paper trail" found on Hosea & Matilda) Sent twice for death records, and studied census, land/probate records looking for clues/leads as to WHO Hosea's parents are. There is a ton of information on the other Hosea of Morman fame born 1810, and several branches of the STOUT family in general...but my Hosea seems to of just "Appeared" in Ohio at the time of his marriage. Census records claim birth state of Ohio, but parents may have been from back east. Hosea & his wife Matilda moved around quite a bit, and lived/had children in Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, and I believe were even in Indiana for awhile....If anyone out there has access to a better source of information on Early Ohio state birth records, or could point me in the direction I havent tured yet, or know anything at all about this enigma...Please contact me. Thanks a bunch, happy questing! Stacey
