I still have relatives living in Mounds, and Mound City. I have traced the Stout's from England, to the US New England, New Jersey, Kentucky, and finally to Illinois. Someone could have branched off and went to Ohio, but it was not in my direct line. I wished I would have kept that info I ran across, with Claud and Kate's marriage. I don't believe I have it anymore, but I will look just the same. Write me directly at rodrigk@prodigy.net

By now I'm sure Mr. LaRue has given you a great deal of good information. This past year I was able to complete the paper work to have my family listed with the Daughters of the Republic of Texas through James M(onroe) Stout and have now been able to trace this family back to Richard and Penelope. I haven't been in contact with Mr. LaRue for some time so I don't know if he also has this work. If you still need info, I can be reached at classic@simpleco.net. Good luck with your research.

I believe the town was in error because I believe Clinton is in Hunterdon Co. and Clifton is in Essex Co. Henery was living with wife Eliza and children Aseneth J. and Isaac W. They later had son Henry and father Henery died sometime between 1852 and 1860 when Eliza was listed as a widow and living in Newark Ward 3 with her children. Any help will be appreciated.

    1. Peter Christman(n), Sarah Stout and other Stouts from NJ to Preble Co., OH
    2. Hi Jeanie, I don't have any information on your specific family, but my Great Grandfather John A. Stout (b. circa 1863) may have been born in Preble Co., Ohio. He was an orphan raised by an Elisha and Elizabeth (Toney) Spencer who were from that county. Later they moved to Wayne Co., Indiana. John A. always used the last name Stout, and he mentions an Aunt Jane Stout and a George Stout in his 1893 journal, so I assume that was his birth name. He also said that his parents were born in NJ, but his adoptive parents were not born there. I have more information, but I have never been able to find out the identity of John A.'s birth parents or other family members. This is the first time I have heard the Stout name and Preble County mentioned together. Do you know when your Daniel Stout left New Jersey and came to Preble? Do you know if Sarah Stout had brothers and sisters or any other relatives there? Maybe we could help each other. I live close to Preble Co. and have been thinking of ways that I might do research on the Stouts there. Maybe I could find the answers to your other questions, too. If you can give me the information that you have, I can go there to see what I can find. Does anyone else know anything about Stout families in Preble Co., Ohio in the 1800s? Surnames: Stout, Chadwick, Christman, Christmann, Chrisman, Wooley, Ellison Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QKQBAIB/1615.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Hello......just wondering if anyone has any more documented information on Sarah Stout married Peter Christman(n). I read on another website that Sarah and Peter were married in Preble County, Ohio and that she was an orphan born in New Jersey. From what I've read of the other messages here, I would think that either the marriage date for Anna Chadwick and Daniel Stout may be wrong since Sarah was born in 1787 and her parents? were married in 1792. That's a difference of 5 years. Is it possible that Anna Chadwick was not Sarah's mother and that her father, Daniel Stout had been married before he married Anna Chadwick? The birth and death years I have are: Daniel Stout 1758 - 1843 and Anna Chadwick 1772 - 1858. That would make Anna about 15 years of age when Sarah Stout was born in 1787 and about 14 years younger than Daniel. If Daniel Stout and Anna Chadwick Stout were Sarah's parents, then why would anyone consider Sarah an orphan In Preble Co., Ohio? Does anybody know of a copy of a will that Daniel Stout made containing the names of his children and wife? Also a will made by Peter Christman? I am Peter Christman and Sarah (Stout) Christman's 3rd gr-granddaughter through their daughter Lavina who married Thomas Johnston Chenoweth. All correspondence and documented information will be very welcome. Jeanie in Florida
