    1. Obituary Ella May (Stout) Reed, 1895, Kent, Washington
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/QKQBAIB/2073 Message Board Post: "REED -- In the town of Kent, on Monday, April 1st, Ella May, beloved wife of Mr. Claud Reed, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.S. Stout, of this place in the twentieth year of her age. "The deceased was born in the town of Joplin, state of Misouri, March 3rd, 1875. In the early years of her life the family removed to the state of Kansas, and here, at the age of ten years, Ella was converted to God, and united with the Methodist church of Arrington, where her membership remained until about three years ago, when she united by letter with the Methodist church of this place, and remained a consistent member of the same, until death claimed her as his own. In May, 1893, she was united in marriage to Mr. Claud Reed, by the Rev. Mr. Drake, then pastor of the M.E. church here, and settled in the beautiful home where she has since lived and died. "Her illness was of short duration, and although her suffering was great, she bore it with christian fortitude and complete resignation, and as above stated fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Monday at 5 oclock, p.m. "The funeral services in memory of the deceased took place on Wednesday, Apr. 3rd, at the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. C.E. Fulmer, assisted by Pastor Woodley, of the Baptist church, and was attended by a large gathering of sympathizing and sorrowful friends. The text chosen was from 2nd, Cor., 4th chapter and 18th verse, and the discourse following was timely and impressive. After the service a large number of friends, with the relatives, followed her remains to their last resting place, in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, where the last sad rites were performed by Rev. Drake. "Mrs. Reed was held in the very highest esteem in the neighborhood by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. Her character and influence were quiet, but none the less effective on that account. Her manner was calm and earnest; her enthusiasm for Christ's cause steady and constant, and her faith strong and simple. "In the church of which she was a member she was highly respected and loved by everyone, for her consecration to Christ and her amiable and friendly disposition toward all with whom she came in contact. "She was at one time president of the Epsworth League, and those who were associated with her in that organization, will feel keenly the loss of one who so wisely and efficiently presided over them in their deliberations, and whose heart was so much in sympathy with themin their work. She she is gone; an exemplary daughter, a devoted wife, a loving mother and sympathizing friend; and while her departure is keenly felt, we pray that the God of all Grace may sustain the bereaved husband, comfort, the sorrowful parents and brothers, and protect and provide for the motherless infant, who are left behind to mourn her seemingly untimely end. "Card of Thanks "We wish to thank the many friends who so kindly assisted us during the illness, death and burial of our beloved wife, and daughter. Claud J. Reed Mr. and Mrs. S.S. Stout." *Ella was the daughter of Meesee Ann (Rickman) and Samuel Smith Stout.
