Got this from another list, thought it would be helpful to many. __________________________________________________________________________ Dear All: Some volunteers from the society of the Daughters of the American Revolution ( DAR) have established a wonderful new program for users of Rootsweb. These volunteers will do lookups in their database and records if you think one of your ancestors served in some capacity during the American Revolution. These volunteers have more databases that are available to them than the ones commonly used by the search engines. The process is fairly simple : Go to the DAR message board: There are two ways to do that: > www.rootsweb.com > message boards > topics > organizations and societies > DAR Or if you want the easy way :-) http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=topics.organizations.dar Address your message as follows: subject : DAR Lookup > surname> location > dates In the body of the message put the information regarding the person, Be sure to fill out the surnames box at the bottom since the new search engine will be keying on that item. Leave the email response box checked and you will be notified when the DAR volunteers respond . Give them a week or so to get to your request. We really appreciate their efforts. The parents of John Hart, signer of the Declaration of Independence were Edward and Martha (Furman) Hart. And his wife's name was Deborah. Two sons of John and Deborah (Scudder) Hart married Stout's. Edward married Nancy Ann Stout and Nathaniel married Elizabeth Stout. Of course, this is all family to me. My ggg-grandfather Amos Hart (b. 1776) is descended from a brother of the older Edward Hart and is a cousin of John Hart the Signer. And my ggg-grandmother Ruth (Stout) Hart was the daughter of Andrew Stout and Sarah Stout. Bill > > Subject: Nancy Ann Stout > Date: Tue, 13 Nov 2001 16:15:33 -0600 > From: "Phillip J. Over the past weeks I have been seeking information on the Penelope Stout commemorative coin. I received a response from Ferris Olin Ph.D., Rutgers University. He had knowledge of the coin but his only advice was the recommendation that I contact Historical Societies near the areas where Penelope lived. He did make one statement that caught me off guard. He said Penelope had a son, John Hart, who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. As with most information, an element of truth may exist. Researching John Hart, I found he was born btw 1708-1713. A side note, Penelope would have been nearing her 90th birthday. John Hart & his wife Rebecca Scudder had many children, among them Edward Hart, b. 1755. Edward married Nancy Ann Stout in 1777. I have no records of Nancy but my data is limited. Hopefully this information will help someone. Will continue attempting to find background and possible sources for the commemorative coin. Phil Cook
I posed this question on the STOUT my family page: Where can the Penelope Stout coin be purchased? Here was the reply: Read what others had to say: Pat Russell - Nov 12, 2001 Viewers | Reply to this item Joe, we have never found it. The only one who might answer that for you would be Carrie, and as far as I know, she only had the pics that I think she found on another site and she incorporated it to her Stout site. I think to find the coin would be a prize in itself and whoever has one would surely be bragging about it. Good luck in your search for it.
I've also been trying to find out how to get the commemorative coin. If any one knows how to get one please let me know. Barbara [email protected]
