And I know there were at least 2 for the time period I'm looking at....I don't know about your Hosea, seems like they traveled to same area's, but my Hosea has been consistent in stating on census records that he was born in Ohio. I believe the "other" Hosea was born in Kentucky though, (Mormon faith one) and maybe this is him? There is only a year or two difference in their birth years...I have even entertained the idea that it IS the same man with multiple wives...but that doesn't jive with census records where they are both recorded in different states. My Hosea was most likely Mormon as well...there are several family member's who still are member's of LDS, but I'm just not sure about your Kentucky born Hosea would in fact be the one I am seeking. Thank you though for taking the time to reply & trying to help! Its ap! preciated. Stacey

Records indicate date of 22 October 1812. Married" 14 January 1836 in Clinton Co. Ohio to a: Matilda MEACHAM (have seen reference to surname George as well) Hosea died 24 May 1875 and is buried in La Plata Cemetery, Macon Co. Missouri. I continue to be confused by different census years and children claimed by this couple popping in and out...(See previous post) According to "Children's" birth places listed on census records...Hosea & Matilda lived in Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri. I have not been able to link my Hosea to any other Stout family information. No information on parents, siblings, or information on Hosea's wife, Matilda's people...it's like they don't start until around 1836. Any assistance with this family is greatly appreciated. I have census records, marriage record, land records, from various states from approx. 1836/1840 on until Hosea's death in 1875. Need help with this couple's parents/siblings. Thanks, Stacey

    1. Mary/Marry/Mabry STOUT b 1902 DENTON CO TX
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/QKQBAIB/1964 Message Board Post: I am searching for information for MABRY STOUT, who was briefly married to my grandfather LUCIOUS L MINTON in Dallam County TX 1917. I believe she is sometimes referred to as MARY STOUT instead of MABRY, however I do think they are one and the same. I apologize for the length of this, but I'm hoping that the details help explain how I came to this conclusion. In the 1920 census for Dallam county TX I find LUCIOUS L MINTON and MABRY UNKNOWN married with no children. MABRY is 18, and shows TX TX GA for birthplaces of her and her parents, which I believe is incorrect (more on that later). I was able to get a copy of their marriage certificate which shows her name very clearly as MABRY STOUT. The marriage took place in 1917 in Dallam County TX. LUCIOUS L MINTON was born in 1884, Pilot Point, Denton County TX and is still there in 1900. In 1910, he is in Cooke county TX. So, LUCIOUS L MINTON lived first in Denton, moved to Cooke County prior to 1910, and moved to Dalhart, Dallam County TX prior 10 1917 when the marriage took place. In 1920, they adopted my mother from a home for unwed mothers in Pilot Point, Denton county TX. My mother's adoption records show he was still married (presumably to Mabry, based on the dates) when the adoption took place in June of 1920. In 1923, Lucious L Minton applied for a new marriage certificate, I don't remember of the top of my head the bride's name. In 1925 he married again, to Mrs. Myrtle Boykin, my grandmother. So, MINTON and MABRY STOUT were married in 1917, through mid-year 1920 to no later than 1923. What I've been trying to figure out is, who was she and what happened to her. In searching for her I believe I've found her grandparents, but not her parents. I am pretty sure her mother died after MABRY's birth in 1902 and prior to the 1910 census. It took a long time, and I guess I got lucky, because I find in the 1910 census for DENTON County TX, MABRY STOUT (erroneously transcribed as MARRY STAUT) living with her grandparents BENJAMIN R HOPKINS & FRANCE E UNKNOWN. MABRY's information includes TX, KN, Arkansas, which doesn't mesh with the 1920 census data, however that doesn't seem to be uncommon. I found further census info (all Denton County TX) for BENJAMIN R HOPKINS, BENJAMIN RUFUS HOPKINS & R B HOPKINS with wife and family and came to the conclusion (through the process of elimination) that MABRY's mother was the second daughter Anna b. 1875, and that Anna had died prior to 1910. In 1910, where MABRY is living in the household of the HOPKINS, the mother is listed as having 9 children, 7 of whom are still living. This family shows up in the 1880 & 1900 censuses for Denton County TX, where LUCIOUS L MINTON lived during that time frame. FRANCES E was apparently FRANCIS E PAGE, based on one of the censuses I found, I think maybe 1880. There is one or more PAGE's living in the household that are listed as in-laws. If any of this sounds remotely familiar, I'd love to hear about it. I've been trying to find out what became of Mabry for quite some time, and recently came across a 5 year old post on genealogy.com regarding a MARY STOUT b 1902 in DENTON that sparked a new search... Thanks, Roger Goeb

    3. I have downloaded the 48 page book, "The History of the Stout Family", "First Settling in Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey" by Nathan Stout, 1901. It gives a fairly complete listing of the first 3 or 4 generations of Richard Stout's descendants and who they married. If any one would like a copy let me know and I will send it to you via a attachment. It is Adobe reader format. Jack
