    1. [STONE] William Stone - Governor of Maryland - descendancy
    2. I am searching for children of William Stone, the 3rd gov. of Maryland- born abt 1603- died 1660 in Md, who was married to Verlinda Cotton Graves. There is some theory that William Stone who died 13 Jan 1707 in North Farnham Par., Richmond Co., VA was his grandson. I am without any substantial proof of this and would appreciate help with this line. Chris Clark

    3. Chris, In a publication titled, "Such As I Have, Give I Thee, Part 3, Direct Family Lineage of East Texas Stones - Governor William Stone's English Background", (page 110), author unknown to me, it does list William Stone of Amelia County Virginia as a grandson of William Stone of "Poynton Manor, " Charles County Maryland. William who died in 1707 in that publication is the son of William Stone b. 1684, Richmond Co, Va and Ann Hoskins, who in turn was the son of William Stone above of "Poynton Manor" born 1666 and Theodosia Wade, who in turn was the son of Thomas Stone, born 1635 in Virginia and Mary ?, who was the eldest son of Gov. William Stone, of Maryland b 1603 and Verlinda Cotton. Now I must say that I was almost burned at the proverbial stake for putting that information on line. So if you want what I have on William and Sarah Stone of Amelia County, Virginia you can visit my webpage at www.joepayne.org/genealogy.htm and find the lineage there and should you want the only research I have found published of William and Sarah of Amelia Co., send me your snail mail address and I will mail you a copy of "Such As I Have, Give I Thee", and if anyone knows the author of this publication please let me know.
