    1. [STONE] Re: Capt. John Stone died 1634 CT Pequot War- proof related to William (son)
    2. Hi all. OK, I am stuck. I recently found several LDS records on line and another researcher who say that Capt. John Stone who was killed by Indians which basically started the Pequot War in Connecticut, was the father of William Stone. What proof is there that he is the father of William Stone, the 3rd gov. of Maryland- born abt 1603- died 1660 in Md, who was married to Verlinda Cotton Graves. I've reviewed several histories which don't mention children-- one review said that John Stone was described by Puritans as a 'drunkard, lecher, braggart, bully and blasphemer- smuggler privateer and that he may have practiced cannibalism in the Caribbean. I'd love to learn more. Perhaps, if William was a son- this helps to understand William's stand against the puritans during his role as a leader in early Maryland. Help---- any proof out there? debbie deem (related through the William and Conway Stone line of North Carolina.)
