    1. [STONE] Andrew C. Stone, Hanover VA and Kingwood, WV
    2. Hi! Donna Pratt (dpratt5326@aol.com) and I, along with Shirley Stone of Kingwood, WV, are working on the ancestors of Andrew C. Stone, born in Hanover, VA, 1792, the son of William P. Stone. He married Martha Christian and died before 1870 in Kingwood. He was the executor of his father William P. Stone's estate. We are trying to get a copy of the will which is in Book 1 of Hanover Co; #590 for 1868 -- just after the burning of records. A probable brother of William P. Stone was Stephen Stone Jr. who had Claibourne V. Stone, also living in Kingwood, according to his marriage certificate for a second wife.. A third inhabitant of Kingwood was John R. Stone; it is not clear whether he was brother of Andrew or Claibourne or ? The census material from the late 1700's indicates that the probable father of William P. and Stephen Stone Jr. was Stephen Stone Sr. His possible father was John Stone who is listed in the Vestry Book of St. Paul's Parish of Hanover Co., VA from 1738 to 1745, receiving 400 item payments from them per year. In 1745, Lewis Watkins received 150 units "for burying John Stone." Some questions: What are the units of value used by the St. Paul's Parish? Why was John Stone one of the few men to get a payment? We note that several of you list a Andrew Larkin Stone born in Texas. What is the connection with Andrew C. Stone, who had a son named Larkin? Any and all help gratefully received by all of us.
