It has been a long time since I posted but since we have so many new Stones out there, I thought I would ask if I can connect with anyone. I actually have two Stone families since cousins apparently married. Rufus Fulton Stone, b. 02 Sept 1847 in Winchester VA, married Rebecca Ann Stone b. 13 Apr 1842, Lens Creek, VA (now WV) Rufus apparently was in the Confederate Army but I have no idea of regiment, company, etc. I assume he served from Virginia. Any ideas or help? Rufus' parents were Hiram Stone, b. ca 1815 in NC, and Margaret (or Peggy) _____. Hiram and Margaret died one month apart, he dying 21 Feb 1863 and she dying 27 Jan 1863. Rebecca Ann's parents were Richard Stone, b. 1812, Bedford Co., VA and Mary Polly Basham, b. 1817, Monroe Co., VA (now WV). I have much information on their descendents and am trying to find out some ancestors. Family lore and other sources say that Richard Stone is descended from William Stone, early governor of MD and from Thomas Stone who signed the Declaration of Independence but I am unable to verify.
