Hi Dolly, I don't think I can help, but I am desparately searching for my STONE line first recorded as Lewis/Louis STONE, age 30, b "unknown" in the 1850 Benson, Rutland, VT Census with wife, Mary, age 17, b "unknown" and infant son, Lewis/Louis b VT. (Probably Mary was dealing with the Census taker and couldn't understand English). I've been told that some STONES changed their name from LAROCHE/ROCHE/LAROQUE/ROQUE/dit STPIERRE. In the 1860 Benson Census he is listed, age 40, b Canada with wife, Mary, age 35?, b Canada and chil Henry, age 9, Sufrie?, age 6, Misline? (my Marcia), age 3, and infant, Mary all b VT. I've been toying with the idea that my Lewis/Louis might be connected to Rev. George Washington STONE b 1777 Piermont, Grafton, NH (Hugh1, Hugh2, Uriah3, Uriah4 George Wash.5, Malvina6, mother of Pres. Chester Alan Arthur). Hugh1, murdered wife, Hannah FOSTER in Andover, MA. Rev. George m Judith STEVENS, b Newbury, VT and they had chil. in Berkshire, VT and removed to Dunham, Que (more children) and died there. This is the basis of my "wild" idea - my gtgm, Marcia STONE, b 1856 Benson m Samuel BRYSON in Mt. Holly, 1870 and divorced somtime before 1880. My grm, Lilly Almira BRYSON was placed in the Shaker Community in Enfield, Grafton, NH before 1880. Her mother, Marcia, was living in either Manchester, Bennington, VT, Mt. Holly or Benson, Rutland, VT at the time. Relatives of Judith STEVENS were living in Enfield, NH. Thinking that maybe her father, Lewis/Louis STONE, knowing cousins in Enfield, advised his dau., Marcia, about the Shaker facility (they took in children) when she couldn't care for her?????
