If there is anyone who has a copy of this book which I cannot find: "The Stones of Surry" (Surry Co., NC), I will be very grateful if you would look up something for me: I have information of my Hiram Stone that he was born in NC in 1812 and died Feb. 21, 1863. His wife was Margaret (Peggy) Pane who was born 1811 in VA. She died 27 Jan 1863. I show five children for them: 1. Elisha 2. Eliza 3. Rufus Fulton 4. Mary E. 5. David Smoot I have been told that Hiram's parents were John Stone and Betsy Curry but have been unable to find any proof of this -- but was told this is shown in this book. I will be very happy if this IS true but since I cannot verify I hesitate to believe it. I did a quick search of the CD I have. There are only two instances of Hiram and none of the children, spouses, etc. match. Any other information to try?
