    1. [STONE] Re: [STONE, Thomas]
    2. My family's oral history is that we are direct desc of Thomas Stone [1743-10/05/1787] Yet, as I researched, there are serious questions as to whether there are any Stone surnames as direct since it would only go down from the male line. >From the research done by Stone, Marshall, Wade, and Dent families - appears to be from another Thomas Stone, b. 1745. If Someone can show me where I have erred, it would certainly make others in my family happy - again, oral history was desc of Signor of Declaration, not his 3rd cuz. Most sources show children as Frederick, Margaret, and Mildred. Frederick is purported to have died about 1793, unmarried, and childless. Yet, I have seen several sources, to include U.S. Parks Service, say he and Margaret Brown had an estimated 10 children. I have been unable to determine if there are any other children than Frederick, Margaret, and Mildred. The best effort so far shows that my family descends from his 3rd cousin, Thomas Stone [1745-bet 1812-1813, m. Sally unknown, son of John Stone [abt 1709-1764] and Mary Marshall [abt 1713-1774]. Both Thomas Stone's are desc from William Stone and Verlinda Graves. My line is: Thomas Stone [1745-bet 1812-1813] m. Sally unknown [1742-aft 7/7/1813] - 3rd gr-grandson of William Stone & Verlinda Graves Kinzea Stone, Sr. [10/29/1774-1/19/1846] m. Sarah Watts [9/13/1780-2/22/1834] John Stone [1831- ] m. Ann Washington Redmond [1832- ] Charles W. Stone [7/22/1848-10/12/1919] m. Eleanora Bywaters [2/27/1859-2/24/1918] - my gr-grandparents. Again, if erred, please advise.
