Been sick so I'm late getting back to you but here are the details regarding my John Stone from Bedford, PA born about 1760 and married about 1800. Wife unknown. The family lived in Friends Cove, near Rainsburg in Bedford county. According to his grandson he served for 7 years in the colonial army. We have photo copies of some company payroll from January 1776 to 1781. They think he joined around 16 years age. He served in Patton's Regiment under Capt Bicker's company. He was a farmer and cooper. Solomon, his grandson stated that the Stone family "was one of the old and honored families of the Keystone State." Previous work (1960) by other family members have found a 1760 marriage of John Stone and Mary Walker. Also a 1747 marriage of Robert Stone and Ann Odgen but no consensus was made on if either of these were his parents. Sure hope someone out there has some pieces of the puzzle for John Stone.
