My STONE's are from the northern branch........Orange, New Haven, Ct. Starting with Samuel, born in 1756, his son William born 1788, his son Sereno born 1814, his son Benjamin born not in CT but in NY 1835. Benjamin is my gggrandfather, he had a son William born in SD 1878. Any information on this family line would be great. Jacqueline jacroing67@aol.com
I am still hoping to find that one record or notation in a written history that will help me connect my gg-grandfather, Isaac Stone of Wisconsin with his family in Brunswick, Maine. Isaac came to Wisconsin during the 1840's and by 1850 is listed with his oldest son, Alvin (also born during that same year). Two other children were to follow; a second son, Langley and daughter Nancy Ann. I'm hoping that the names of his children will help me connect with his family (Isaac's wife was from the Lac du Flambeau band of the Chippewa. Any help will certainly be appreciated Cindy
Well, I believe my Stone line is originally from CT or NJ, but have some new information since I last posted. On May 5, 1893 NYC, my gf was born Herbert Manville (his mother's name was Sadie Manville and was was listed UW, unwed?) and early on, changed his name to Roy Stone. Although there is no name of a father on the birth certificate, the father's occupation is "machinist" his age "26", birthplace as Brooklyn and residence as N.Y. On my gf's SS application, his father is listed as George Stone. Would anyone know of this George Stone born in Brooklyn in about 1867? There are 5 possible in the 1880 census but I can't seem to narrow it down.
