    2. Carolyn The birth date of your Joseph STONE is the same era as my great grandfather William STONE born in Oxford in 1833. He had 6 brothers and 5 sisters. They were Elizabeth b. 1829, Price Thomas b. 1830, William Treadwell b. 1832, Robert b. 1835, John b. 1837, Anne b. 1839, Emily b. 1841, Jane Amelia b. 1844, Henry b. 1846, and Alice b. 1856. 3. Hi Charles, My line (we think) goes back to VA also, but so far only confirm to Wiley Stone, b. 1803 SC, then Wesley, James, Francis, and Wm Pitchford Stone, b. 1844, Forsyth Co, GA. I thought I was getting Wm Pitchford Stone's records, and got Wm Plunkett Stone's instead. Thought perhaps there would be a member of that line on the list. We have some Thomas and Williams back further, a John in there somewhere and it is slow to sort out, but we think the John must be a brother of Wiley. There are also some James first names. ron At 11:44 AM 2/27/02 EST, you wrote: >HI! >Noted William P. Stone and Eleanor Williams. Dave, Do you know the names of any of your William's brothers? Do the names BAULD or BALLS mean anything to you? We have a mystery on our hands with our Edward Bauld STONE. He was born in 1823; married 1849 in Yaxley Hunts, under the name BALLS, with his father listed as Edward STONE. He had 2 sons, Edward and Robert, both registered as BALLS, born in Yaxley in 1851 & 1853; but, in the 1851 census for Yaxley he is listed as Edward STONE. We know it is him as his wife is Mary Elizabeth PHILLIPS (b1824 Yaxley) and her father Thomas PHILLIPS is living with them. Unfortunately, Edward is down as *not of this county* on the census. Up until these findings, which have come about in the past 8 months or so, we have always believe his name to have been Edward Bauld STONE. His gravestone says this, plus born in Yaxley! Four of his 6 sons, we know positively had Bauld a middle name. So far, we have not found a birth for his daughter Alice, who was born in England, c1855. They came to Halifax Co. Nova Scotia, c1855/56. We know that Mary Elizabeth travelled often to the USA, from Halifax. We do not know why, but most of the family believe it was to visit family. Most often she was accompied by her daughter Alice, not Edward, though he apparently did go at times. We do have connections to Boston but that is through their granddaughter's husband's sister, Mary (Polly) CAUDLE nee WYATT (WHYATT). Three of my grandfather's sisters married Americans, so I hope I have the right one ... the one who ended up in Boston. Edward and Mary Elizabeth were my 2x great-grandparents. Clutching at straws, I know, but am trying to find any tid-bit, which will help me to identify where Edward may have been born and why the changes with his name. Perchance does any of this sound familar to you. Oxford(shire) is not that far from Yaxley, hence this message to you. Warmest regards (& living in the hope of finding answers!) Trena Heater (nee Wyatt) Ontario, Canada.
