    3. Wondering if anyone with the book "Stone Connection" in their possession would look up a Lewis STONE b abt 1820 (Canada) or poss. VT. My first tracking of this Lewis in in the 1850 Benson, Rutland, VT Census, age 30, b place " Unknown" with wife Mary, age 17 and infant son, Lewis. In 1860 he is listed in Benson with b place (Canada) and also Mary's b place (Canada) Would like to know if any of Uriah STONE's sons besides Rev. George Washing STONE b 1777 Pierpont ( m Judith STEVENS b Newbury, VT with some of their children b in Newbury and Berkshire, VT and Dunham, Canada) removed to Canada and raised families. Would like to hear from anyone researching this STONE line back to Hugh of Andover. Janet Ross

    3. The Shephard name would make it seem like we're connected, but here's the data I have on John Stone and Rachel Shephard. It would put Rachel Shephard at least 5 generations back from your Sarah Stone - probably a little too far for Sarah to use Rachel's maiden name as her child's middle name. This info is from a genealogy of Deacon Gregory Stone I found at the NEHGS library. 850 JOHN STONE, 8G Grandfather. Born on 12 May 1663 in Cambridge Farms, Mass. JOHN died in Cambridge Farms, Mass. on 3 Feb 1712; he was 48. On 27 Apr 1687 when JOHN was 23, he married RACHEL SHEPHARD, 8G Grandmother, in Cambridge, Mass. They had the following children: i. Rachel (Died as Child) (1688-1695) ii. John (1689-<1762) iii. Mary (1692-1757) 425 iv. ANNA (1694-1760) v. Rachel (1697-1779) vi. Ruth (1700-) 851 RACHEL SHEPHARD, 8G Grandmother. Born abt 1665. RACHEL died in Lexington, Mass. on 17 Mar 1724; she was 59. ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Re: STONE-D Digest V98 #105 Author: <[email protected]> at Internet Date: 7/31/98 10:21 AM In a message dated 98-07-31 08:55:05 EDT, you write: << To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Subject: [STONE-L] re: Deacon Gregory Stone Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: cc:Mail note part Dan, I too can trace my roots to Deacon Gregory Stone (of Massachusetts) through my mother's mother. 3. Never heard of it Utica, MO and can't find it on my maps. Just wondering if you're sure about the spelling of that name - could it be Arnica instead of Utica? Arnica isn't really a town anymore but it's in Cedar Co. Guess I'll have to see about getting those books from Mid-Continent too. My Elizabeth Stone was born 1810 in Surry Co. NC and married Henderson Graves. Migration route of the Stone, Graves, Denny and Watkins families who intermarried was from NC to Gallia, OH; Indiana (first Jay Co. then other locations incl. Sullivan Co.) then to MO. Some settled in St. Clair Co. near Lowry City and Osceola which is not far from Arnica, MO. 3. Barbara, I was excited to see another Stone family from Loudoun Co., VA! My GG Grandfather was born there and then moved to Frederick County, MD, as the following "ahnentafel" style genealogy shows (double the number finds the father, add one to find the mother). Perhaps your Benjamin is my William's younger brother or cousin. Not that it helps you find his parents because I have almost no information on William. However, if either of us finds anything, we should definitely share it! I'd also be interested to know if anybody on the list has any information on my great-uncle JESSE STONE, son of Daniel E. Stone, Jr., who moved to Texas I believe. The story I always heard was that he disappeared, my grandfather W. Owings Stone (Jesse's brother), had no idea where he was for many years.
