We are researching Jacob STONE, Jr. who was married to Susannah ZORN. They had one daughter that we know of named Eva or Eve STONE b: 1773 in Pendleton Co., WV who married George MOATS on April 14, 1792 in Pendleton Co., WV. Eva STONE - MOATS died 1850 in Harrisville, Ritchie Co., WV and her husband George MOATS died June 01, 1844 also in Harrisville, Ritchie Co., WV. Does anyone have record of the above mentioned individuals? Thank you, Melinda Pennington

The William Stone from Newberry, SC is listed in the 1790 census as the following: Free White males 16 years and older: 1 Free White males under 16: 1 Free white females: 5 Slaves: 1 I don't know if I have any connection to this line, but my Stones lived in Spartanburg, SC. They then moved to Gibson and Carroll Counties in TN. Anjanette, I believe that the William Stone in Newberry County, SC was my William Stone that died in 1819 and left a will in Jackson County, TN probated in McMinn County, TN. His daughter, my ancestor, first married Thomas Spearman and had 3 children in Newberry, Wesley, Ann Wisdom and Thomas William and then married Edmund Roberts, no children. They moved to McMinn County, TN. Two of the children later moved to Miller County, MO. Ann Wisdom who married William Shelton (later moved to Pulaski County). And Thomas William, my ancestor, who married Nancy Shelton. Do you know of this William Stone and his parentage? He also had sons named Uriah and Elijah. There is some connection to Barren County, KY also. Uriah had a son named Asbury. William may have had a brother named Archibald. Other STONEs in the area of Victor, NY in the late 1700s: Israel, Simon, Alfred, Aaron, John, Samuel, Isaac and that is where I am at and have been for the past year - need a missing link connecting my Ebenezer STONE to one of the other Stone families. This has helped me to understand why there were so many William Stones in my family. I would be happy to. Thank you for your quick response. According to family tradition and records, my great great great gradfather James Stone, was born in South Carolina in 1790. It was stated by his daughter in law in a biography of her husband that James' father was named William, and that he had a tobacco plantation in SC and was wounded in the revolutionary war. James' mothers' maiden name was MCCLURE. A cousin of mine, Wayne HENDON, has stated that James and Elizabeth GUEST were married in 1816 in Tennesee. I know that is eldest son Martin (1817) and his second son William (1818) were born in Warren county Tennessee. They moved to Alabama in 1819-1820 or so. Here Sarah (1820), James H (1822), Mary Ann (1824) and Margaret (1828) were born. Then they relocated to Yell county Arkansas about 1830 where Greeberry (1831) and Redman (1832) and Matilda (1835) were born. Redman was my great great grandfather. About 1837 they moved on to Barry County Mo, and John Lock Stone was born there in 1839. Two years later their last child Andrew Larkin Stone wsa born in Barry county Mo. In 1843 they moved to Texas, residing in Rusk county, in 1850 James moved to Hunt county where he died iSept 12, 1851. Some of the kids split up and moved to Tarrant county, but then most all of them relocated to Erath county by 1860 and ultimately to Comanche county around the small town of Proctor Texas. Outside Proctor Texas there is the Stone family graveyard, where William, Redman, Matilda, and Greenberry are all buried. Also, there are some of the family buried a few miles away in the area known as Ebenezer Texas. You wont find it on a map trust me ha ha. My part of the family, Redman and wife lived in the Ebenezer area. Redman married once about 1855 and had 5 children, all but one of the children died, and then his wife died about 1862. My great grandfather was the only one to survive. Redman remarried to Harriette Sanders and the two had many more children. All together Redman fathered about 12 kids. My great grandfather married Sarah Gartman around the 1870's and the two lived there having 8 children and then his wife died. He left Comanche county about 1900 am moved to Mason County around the area of Streeter Texas. It was there they my Grandmother of 16, Donia Gertrude Stone met and married my grandfather of 40 Albert Lee McGehee. If you have any information on this family, I would love to correspond with you. We have a great deal of info to share, but are always curious to find more. There are some of the kids of James we know very little about. Also, where was James born and all about his lineage. Thanks, Look forward to hearing from you. Rev Jack McGehee

Thank you for such a generous response! Yes, Elizabeth is daughter of Daniel, son of John, son of Gregory, etc....I am sorry about your Ward who drowned. How sad! Is anything known of the circumstances? It the appears that Mary Moore (yes, hahahahha!you are related to yourself and that's wonderful!) married Daniel Stone and they had my many greats grandmother Elizabeth (Stone) Livermore. Which makes the Moore line mine too, right? Can you tell me anything more about the Moore line that goes through Mary (Moore) Stone? Yes, Kris, we are related! My line comes from Daniel (brother to your Nathaniel!) 's daughter Elizabeth Stone who married my many greats grandfather Joseph Livermore. I was not certain my Elizabeth was Daniel Stone's daughter because her mother was listed as Mary Ward while Danile is shown as married to a Mary Moore. It turns out that Elizabeth's mother Mary Moore had been previously married to a Ward. So it turns out Elizabeth (Stone) Livermore is daughter of Daniel, son of John, son of Gregory. >From the gedcom files I have been looking at on the world tree it looks like the Stones go back to a Philip Stone in 1265. But of course these are only names and dates. But you have mentioned a book. I wonder if it might not be available through interlibrary loan. Is it old and out of print? Am writing from very rural New Mexico! This is my first time to look into the Stones. Is the Elder John Stone the same John a 1600's Indian Land deed is recorded for? This is all so amazing! Anything you could tell me about this family would be appreciated. These discoveries are true gifts, and I am so grateful to be talking to a distant cousin!!!!!!! warm regards, Victoria
Victoria, I have been having a discussion with Rick from Thailand about the Ward/Moore conneciton with Daniel Stone. His email address is [email protected] We connected on the [email protected] and have had some good discussions about this marriage. I have Mary Moore, daughter of John Moore (of Sudbury) and Elizabeth Whale marrying first Richard Ward, son of William Ward and Elizabeth ... Richard Ward drowned in the Sudbury River on March 31, 1666. This is according to the William Ward genealogy by Martyn. Mary Moore than married David Stone, again per Martyn's William Ward book. Now I am probably wrong with my David and the name is really Daniel Stone. But both of your sources are technically correct. She is Mary Moore, widow of Richard Ward. All of Sudbury, MA and Marlboro, MA. Hopefully this helps. I would be interested in the Daniel/David Stone connections as these aren't really my ancestors, but the Ward family is from my mother's side while the Moore family is from my father's side. It is fun finding out that you are related to yourself. Ward Hobby
Hello, Stones! ,On the world tree gedcom files I find that Elizabeth Stone's (married to Joseph Livermore) father was Daniel Stone and her mother was Mary Ward. Yet another descendant of Elizabeth (Stone) Livermore has written me saying that Elizabeth's father is a Daniel, with brothers Nathaniel and David, and other children, who are born to a John Livermore, but the Daniel I find there is not married to a Mary Ward, but a Mary Moore. Can anyone who might shed some light on this mystery? Am I mistaken, please let me know! regards, victoria
