    1. [STONE-L] Mary STONE Baker
    2. Allan R. Ross
    3. Hi Robert, Notice your Mary STONE prob. b 1760-70 lived in Whiting, VT. Do you know when she was living in Whiting? I have a Lewis STONE b abt 1820 living in Benson, Rutland, VT in 1850 Census b "unknown" and in 1860 Census, b (Canada). Whiting is just north of Benson. Wife was Mary CASAVANT/CASAVAH/CASAVAW/CASSAVAUX. We probably don't connect, but if your Mary came from Canada, they may have changed to STONE from LAROCHE/ROCHE/LAROQUE dit LAPIERRE (and various others). Also, grf of Pres. Chester Alan ARTHUR was Rev. George Washington STONE b 1777 Piermont, NH, son of Uriah, Uriah, Hugh, Jr., Hugh of Andover, MA (he murdered his wife, Hannah FOSTER!). Maybe you don't want to hook up with this line! George m Judith STEVENS of Newbury, VT and they had children in Berkshire, VT and removed to Dunham, Que where more chil. born and they died. Maybe Mary was sister to George, or dau of one of Uriah's brothers??? This is alot of speculation, but you never know. I've been researching this STONE line trying to connect my Lewis. Good luck in your search. Janet Ross-MA/AZ

    1. [STONE-L] Susanna Stone
    2. Hi there I just posted a request for information about Susanna Stone who married a Thomas Putnan. And just whne I thought I was being so CAREFUL a reader of this list pointed out that I had forgotten to mention the location. The best information I have comes from Eben Putnam's, A History of the Putnam Family in England and America. It gives Thomas' place of birth as Sutton, Mass and no place for Susanna. Sorry about that. Richard
