    1. [STONE-L] Grandsons of Micajah Stone of Bedford VA
    2. Stone, Karen
    3. Dear Rootsweb Folks, I am researching the Micajah Stone of Bedford county VA who died in 1799. My understanding is that he had these children: Admire, William, John, Micajah, Moses, James, Manoah, Stephen, Molly, Mary, and Bethsheba. I have strong hope that my William Stone who married Lucinda Creasey in Bedford in 1833, William Leftwich minister, is a descendant through one of Micajah Senior's sons. The name associations are like a match in a crossword puzzle. My William Stone (aprrox.1800-1870) is believed to have had these children: William, John, Michael Gerald or Micajah, Margaret, and Thomas Stith, possibly Stiff Stone. However, the only child I know for certain is Thomas Stith Stone. Even though most of my research show William and Lucinda in Bedford and Campbell counties, son Thomas was born in Pittsylvania county on July 2 1845/46. He may have been the last child born. Records state William and Lucinda were farmers in Campbell county VA. Need help with my William! Thanks, Karen <[email protected]>

    2. Allan R. Ross
    3. Dear STONE Listers, I want to thank everyone for trying to connect my STONES to one of the many N.E. STONE Lines. I've recently discovered that my Lewis/Louis STONE b abt 1820 Canada changed from the name DUQUETTE/DUQUET (poss. dit DESROCHES) I have his M.R. from Benson, Rutland, VT showing this. Now I have a DUQUETTE/DUQUET/DUQUAY line back to Denys DUQUET/DUQUAY and Catherine GAUTHIER in Normandie in the early 1600's and into Quebec City. I've since joined the Quebec List (very busy list) and have received lots of info. I'm leaving this list but will miss all the friendly and informative messages. Janet Ross P.S. If someone, like me, is searching for a STONE from Canada, consider the above name, DUQUET dit DESROCHES (dit STONE)

    1. [STONE-L] FRAUDULENT LINEAGE
    2. First Families
    3. Hello StoneFamily Researchers. This is of special concern to you. At sometime during a family genealogy search we all are going to face the problem of a Fraudulent Lineage. This is a something that is running rampant in this age of mass information. We have opened a new page on our web site that addresses this problem. There are over One Hundred family "genealogies" listed that have been corrupted by one person. We must become aware of what is out there and what to look for. This section of our web site will grow with updates and is open to all. The URL for our website is; http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/ On the first page of the site look for the link FRAUDULENT LINEAGES. Happy Hunting Harold Oliver Director America's First Families ADDENDA....We have received so many messages with some great additional listings that we will be issuing an UPDATE soon.

    1. [STONE-L] STONE, Jennie : WV / OH
    2. I am looking for a Jennie STONE. She is named as the mother of my Great- grandmother on a sibling's death certificate. Jennie STONE married a W.H. Turner. His first and middles names could be William Harrison or Wilber/ William Henry - several documents show different names. Jennie is alleged to be born in West Virginia. I know her to be in Kanawha County in 1891 for the birth of her first child - Nella Mae Turner aka Nellie Mae. Four more children were also born in Kanawha County WV. The family removed to Hancock County WV in the late 1890's but Jennie does not show on the 1900 Hancock County Census. Mr. Turner is listed as a widower with 5 children - Nellie, Stella, Della, Mamie and Oliver (aka Ottmer). Any information on Jennie STONE would be great. We have yet to find a birth or a death record. Note: her name was reported as Mae Stone on Nella's death certificate - we have found nothing for a Mae Stone either. We are hoping that the name of JENNIE STONE will give us better luck. Please Email me with any information. Thanks, Rebekah Schuenemann-Shelton

    3. Hi Sue, Thanks for the reply. I joined the Quebec List and have already got my STONE (DUQUET/dit DESROCHES) back to Denys DUQUET(DUQUAY) in the 1600's from Normandie, France. Can't believe it! I'll be anxious to find out when/why my DUQUET made the change to STONE. Guess I'm going to leave the Stone List - have enjoyed all the messages and met some nice people. The Quebec List is VERY active - I'm being swamped. Thanks, again for the input......Janet Ross

    1. [STONE-L] Lucy Stone Descendants
    2. Hi all. Oral family history has it that Lucy Stone, the suffragette, was my (g)ggggrand-aunt on my father's mother's side. I have been trying to research hew family tree, but I have been having almost no luck so far. It occurred to me to try to attack the problem from the other side, and so I decided to join this list, and to start researching Lucy Stone. Of course, the odds of me having much luck in this direction is pretty slim. I have no idea if she was a blood relation, or if the relationship is through marriage. Anyway, here is some of the info that I do have. If anyone with one of these STONEs in their family tree recognizes any of my family names (see below), I would be truly grateful to hear from you. I was able to track down some very good Lucy Stone info at these sites: http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/d/a/v/Patricia-C-Davis/GENE5-0015.html http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/d/a/v/Patricia-C-Davis/GENE5-0012.html Lucy Stone parents: Francis Stone and Hannah Mathews, married 27 March 1804 in Brookfield, MA. Here is a brief summary of the children of Francis and Hannah: Bowman Stone (1805-1807). Francis Stone (1807-????) married (c1844 in MA) Harriet Blake. Elizabeth Mathews Stone (1808-1836) married (????) Ira Barlow. William Bowman Stone (1811-????) married (1842 in Hardwick, MA) Phebe W. Robinson. re-married (1853 in Hardwick, MA) Samantha Robinson. Luther Stone (1813-c1813). Rhoda Stone (1814-1839). Luther Stone (1816-1850) married (1840 in West Brookfield, MA) Phebe Cutler. Lucy Stone (1818-1893) married (1855 in Brookfield, MA) Henry Brown Blackwell. Sarah Witt Stone (1821-????) married (1845 in Gardner, MA) Henry Lawrence. Lucy Stone's husband had a brother named Samuel C. Blackwell, who married Antoinette Louisa Brown. I have no other information on the Blackwells. A summary of my grandmother's info: Mary Elizabeth Taylor (c1894, 1974) married (1926, Wayne Cty, MI) to Edward Morris Burd (c1888-1934) Father: Frank Taylor (????-????) Mother: Luella Bannister (????-????) Again, if you have any of these names in your family tree (Mary Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Taylor, Luella Bannister), I would love to hear from you. I would be happy to share all the information that I have with anyone who is looking for more details than the brief summaries that I have provided here. Thanks, Jim Burd :) Boulder, CO
