Family lore states that his parents Unknown Stoltz and Unknown Lang emigrated with their teenage son from Prussia to the US to escape him being forced into the military. He married Helena Schneller in Illinois in 1875. They had 4 sons and 3 daughters: Julius Ellen George/Georg Edwin Wilhelm Albet Elvira Clara Family lore also w=says that Elvira researched the family tree back to early 1500s, and that the family may have been minor gentry, possible with the name von Stoltzburg , somewhere near what is now Danzig, Poland.
