I'm researching my family tree and need help resolving something... My Great-great Grandfather with the last name of Stoltz was a Musician in the 114th Ohio Infantry during the Civil War. I always heard the name "Andrew Daniel Stoltz II" as being his name. Recently, I have seen the name "Daniel Arthur Stoltz" listed for the same ancestor. Does anyone know which one is correct? I'd love to hear from any other descendants of him to get the real "scoop". (Especially if they've been handed down any documentation. I sent for and got documentation of his pension records, so I know the Civil War veteran part is right. But the only name they list is Daniel Stoltz. (I was always told that Andrew Daniel went by his middle name "Daniel"). Anyone with further info PLEASE WRITE! Thanks. -Dave PS: He may have had a brother who was also a Civil War veteran.

William Stoltz/Stolz b. Nov. 1854 in Germany immigrated to U.S. in 1873. I don't know where he was from 1873 to 1885. He may have been in Wi or other neighboring states. I found him on the 1885 census in Verdi Township, Lincoln Co., MN. He was married to Minnie (Wilhelminne Holz) b. 1861. Then I found him on the 1900 Census for Verdi Township, Lincoln Co., MN married 14 yr to Pauline Stoltz-b. 5/1874 in Germany who immigrated in 1882. His children with Minnie were: Herman Stoltz-b. 1/1883 and Lydia Stoltz-b. 8/1886 in MN-13 yr old. His children with Pauline were: Ida Stoltz-b. 8/1887, Lena (Adeline) Stoltz-b. 6/1889, Freda Stoltz-b. 5/1891. He lived in Pipestone in 1925 and died in 1926. His daughter Frieda married Edward Gehrts in 1911. Both families lived in the Pipestone and Lake Benton areas for many years, approximately mid 1800's to mid 1900's. There were numerous Stolz and Gehrts children. I would like to share information.

    3. Don't know a Valentine, But my Granfather is Frank Stoltz from Zell South Dakota. His parents were John M. Stoltz & Cathrina Yandl Stoltz. Would love any info on John. George Stolz Jr. is still alive in Earling IA. Alois & Barbara Stolz (immigrated to IA from Germ. 1880) children John (not my John) Mary, Alois, George, Lena, Joseph. Hope any of this helps.     3. My grandfather was Herman Stoltz born in Altoona on October 14, 1893. Siblings were Rose, Elion and Reubert. His father was Valentine Stoltz born in 1859. Valentine's father was Peter and came from Hamburg Germany. I don't know if there is a connection, but maybe it will help.

    3. Cheryll, Sorry, but I do not see the connection to the names I posted, except you list the same surnames. Louis Stoltz born 1882, daughter of Sebastian Stolts & Lena Fill, married Charles Goetz, not Albert. Can you explain?
