Hi Vanessa I am descended from Heinrich Stoltz/Stolz who came to Australia in 1856, arriving at Moreton Bay (according to his obituary when he died in 1903). My first record of him is his marriage certificate in Victoria in 1864 and I have traced all of his descendants up to 1984 when I left it. Because of a huge flood in Brisbane all immigration and shipping records for several years including 1856 were lost so I have been unable to find out where he came from, on what ship, or any information about him. The only information he provided on his marriage certificate was that he came from Hesse-Darmstadt. I have written letters to Germany but because I cannot provide his place of birth they are unable to help. I have checked Hamburg passenger lists but found no record of him. Records from Bremen are not available for that period. I spent over 20 years looking for some trace of him but gave up several years ago. I am now not mobile and unable to visit places where there may be later records available for searching so have not done any research for some time. I believe that Heinrich would have been born around 1819/1820. If you have any information which might give me some clues I should be pleased to receive it. Good luck! Sylvia Stoltz Melbourne. I just got my database back up and running after three years of sitting on a zip drive after my Mac got hit by lightning. I finally got a new Mac, so I have my Stoltz database loaded. I have quite a bit on the Stoltz side. My line is as follows, beginning with my g-grandmother: Flora Alma Stoltz and George Edward Ingalls George William Stoltz and Minnie May Routt James Pargen Stoltz and Talitha Gillaspie Samuel Stoltz and Nancy Pargin Samuel or Ludwig Stoltz and Margretta ? If you tell me your lineage, I can check to see if your people are in my database, as I have the brothers and sisters of all these folks, and lots of family history. As soon as we can plug each other into the big family web, I can start sending you information that might be useful for you. However at this stage in our research we have only established that our Josef Stolz was living in Rothwasser (Germany) in 1796 with his Mother, Elizabeth, who died in that year. Next year he married Theresia Langhammer and two children were born, Josef and Wiktoria. Our dilemna is that our ancestor was not born in this village nor did he die in this village, so we do not know where he originated from. We assume that other members of his family may have ended up in America but we have not made this connection yet. Sorry we cannot be of more help until further research uncovers some more clues. stolzworldwide.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
