Romanofsky May 1, 2011 Beatrice W. Romanofsky, 87, of Wyomissing Hills, died April 29, 2011, at ManorCare Nursing Center, West Reading. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Andrew L. and Anastasia C. (Garahan) Stoltz. She was the wife of John M. Romanofsky. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Patrice M. Romanofsky, of Philadelphia; a brother, David, husband of Louella Stoltz, Spartanburg, S.C.; and a sister-in-law, Regina Stoltz, of York. She also is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was predeceased by brothers: Andrew Stoltz and Gerald Stoltz; and a sister, Patricia (Stoltz) Richers. She was a 1941 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and attended post graduate secretarial school. Beatrice worked as a secretary for an architectural firm, a TSS machine operator for Fry Publications, a secretary and bookkeeper for several other businesses and retired as a school crossing guard for Spring Township in 1990. She also provided private, in-home child care for many children in her community during her time as a stay-at-home mom. She was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, where she was a member of the choir for many years. Beatrice also was a member of the Altoona Sweet Adelines Chorus from the late 1950's until 1961. A Celebration of Life Prayer Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery. Hello westoltz. I am interested in your message regarding a PA Stoltz family. My father had a brother Percival Armine who spelled his name sometimes as Stoltz but mostly as Stolz. His father came to Australia in 1856 , first to Moreton Bay in Queensland and later moving to Albury (NSW) then to Victoria where he married Sarah Ann Vale from Suffolk. England. The first record of him in Victoria is his marriage certificate where he gave information that he came from Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany. He did not provide the name of his birth-place so I have been unable to obtain any of his records in Germany. The shipping and immigration records in Brisbane for that period were lost in a flood so I reached a deadend in my search for ancestors. I don't know of any Swedish connection but if your PA Stoltz is the same as mine I should be most grateful for any information you may be able to provide. Hi Vanessa Thank you for the information regarding your family ancestors. The names you have listed are quite unknown to me and I am not able to provide you with my ancestor's lineage because I have not been able to trace anything of his background in Germany. His Victorian descendants would not have any relevance for you. Over a period of more than 20 years I have searched all the sources available at the time including LDS films of Applications for Passports, Parish Registers, Confirmations, Vital records etc. but have not found any record of the birth of my Heinrich. Perhaps if you could tell me the birth place (actual town or village) of any of your people born around 1819 I might be able to write to that town to see if Heinrich was born there. I have so much material in various places, not well filed, that I am not inclined to spend the time and energy going through it all again. There is so much more available now but I am not mobile and cannot visit the genealogical centres. I hope that you have better luck in tracing your family's origins than I have had.
