I have been at the library all day looking for information on Lucinda Stogsdill that lived in Cabool, MO and I found this article it is dated August 16 1928. I though that I would pass it on to the list so in the future if some one comes across anything they will know what was being said. It states that Neighborhood quarrels which might disclose a motive for the malicious poisonings of the family have been investigated. Joe McGehee had been accused of turning in parties who were charged with manufacturing moonshine in the neighborhood. Considerable enmity was aroused over the shearing of the manes and tails of horses belonging to a brother-in-law of Joe McGehee. This happened 2 years ago 2 boys were charged and convicted and fined for it, and Mrs. Grace Weatherman ( Lucinda's daughter that was killed) was the States chief witness. It is also reported that an enemy of the McGehee family stated during the sickness' that " I know what is the matter with them. They have been poisoned, and they are getting just what is coming to them". Both the blood of Mrs. McGehee and Mrs. Weatherman have showed no signs of a chemical poisoning. I am following this lead now. I am hoping that when I get the court papers that it will tell me who the courts were looking at for this crime. Jamie
