    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/jdJBAEB/404.408.1.1 Message Board Post: You will want to check out "Stiles Ancestry of the Jansen Daughters" website or http://revoluion.3-cities.com/~gjansen/famsti.htm. The Stiles and Palmer families are totally interwoven. Joshua Palmer, son of Rev. Joshua Palmer b. 9 Nov 1784 in NC married Francis "Fanny" Stiles, daughter of Richard Stiles and Elizabeth Glidewell of Virginia later North Carolina. The Stiles and Glidwell families migrated with the Reverand Joshua Palmer from Laurens Creek, SC (as members of his congregation) to Ohio west of Cincinnati and settled at West Liberty, Union County, Indiana. The Stiles and Palmers continued migrating together across Indiana to Sullivan County, Missouri. I am related through my grandmother, Ada Evelyn Palmer, (married G. C. Cover and daughter of John Runion Palmer (Sullivan County, Missouri and later Nebraska). Joshua Palmer and Fannie Stiles were my 3-g-grandparents through their son Elihu Palmer, b 1805 Laurens Co, SC, who married Amy Armstrong. b, 3 sept 1814 Liberty Township, SC and died 13 Oct 1901, Gandy, Nebraska. Amy was Elihu Palmer's first cousin - her mother was Rebecca Stiles (sister of Fannie Stiles), father James Amstrong. So her grandmother and grandfather were Richard Stiles and Elizabeth Glidwell. Evidently marrying first cousins was considered okay in those days, especially the families in and of the Virginia landowners. We are probably cousins as well if you have the Stiles connection.
